Waiting After Sending In Your Query Letter

How long should I wait?

Although different agencies take different amounts of time to get through all of their queries, some agencies will tell you how long you should be waiting for them.  Give them at least 4 weeks before you start worrying too much.

Some agencies even strictly say that they will not respond to queries that they have rejected, along with a time frame for expected replies.  Make sure to take note of that kind of information while you are looking around an agent or agency’s website.

Moving On

After experiencing rejection, it may be time to find a new agent.  If this rejection isn’t the first one for a particular story, then it may be time to step back and take a harder look at everything that’s going on with your manuscript.  Re-examining the work that you have done isn’t giving up in any sense of the word, but moving forward.

Again, the most important thing is to never give up on your writing as you attempt to publish.

Well wishes, Writers

While this article will only get you so far into the process, it’s a way to look at the process even if you aren’t ready yet to get your toes wet.  The publishing process involves a lot of work and time and energy.  While you look towards the future, make sure to keep writing those works to share with the world.

Good luck!
